How to Calculate a Grade
Divide the points you earned by the total points possible, then multiply by 100. The result is your percentage grade.
Grade percentage = (points earned ÷ points possible) × 100Grade Calculator for Tests and Quizzes
For a test, enter the number of questions you answered correctly and the total number of questions. The calculator also shows how many you missed and converts the score into a letter grade using your selected scale.
How Many Questions Can I Miss?
Enter your target percentage. The calculator determines the minimum number of correct answers needed, then shows how many questions you can miss while still reaching that target.
For example, on a 50-question test with a 90% target, you need at least 45 correct answers. That means you can miss up to 5 questions.
Assignment Grade Calculator
This page also works as an assignment grade calculator. If an assignment is worth 80 points and you earned 68, enter 68 as points earned and 80 as points possible. Your grade is 85%.
Class Grade Calculator vs Weighted Grade Calculator
If you only need to convert one score into a percentage and letter grade, use this page. If your class has homework, quizzes, projects and exams with different weights, use the Weighted Grade Calculator.
Need to Know What You Need on Your Final?
If you already know your current course grade and final exam weight, use the Final Grade Calculator to calculate the exact score needed on the final.
Common Grade Scales
Schools do not all use the same grading scale. The default +/- scale in this calculator is only a common reference. Use the custom scale option if your school has different cutoffs.
